Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 7,433 sheep
comprising of 3,275 lambs and  4,158 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale
at Longtown Mart on Thursday 18th September 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

A slightly smaller show of prime lambs forward on the
week, trade jumped by 20ppk to last week’s returns. Well-fed lambs in short
supply and highly sought after. Heavy lambs in high demand with a shortage of heavies
on offer.

Again, more can be sold and are actively sought after
on  a weekly basis to satisfy demand.

CAST EWES AND RAMS

A strong entry of 4,158 cast sheep forward with leaner
sorts dearer on the week. Heavy ewes maintain last weeks high rates of returns.
All ewes of all classes very competitively bid for with a ring full of
purchasers looks for numbers.

Heavy ewes to £310 for Texels from Linnhead, light
ewes topped at £218 for Badger Faces from East Ingliston with rams to £220 for Charollais
from Baillie Farm.
