Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 8,743 sheep
comprising of 5,080 lambs and  3,702 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale
at Longtown Mart on Thursday 23rd October 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

A
larger show of 5,080 lambs forward to the same ring of competitive purchasers
ensuring all classes sold to recent high rates of return. Albeit the average is
up, the lambs 45kg + are the same trade just a better show of fed lambs which
were in demand.

Handy
weight lambs 33-43kg were in hot demand being £8-10 up on the week, as long as
they’re well fed. Many more required to meet demand.

A lighter show of 3,702 ewes sold to the same buoyant
trade seen in recent weeks showing no signs of a reduction. A rise is imminent,
please don’t hesitate to contact your auctioneers for all enquiries.

May more ewes can be handled at Longtown on a weekly
basis as purchasers are keen for supplies.
