Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D
Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 10,359 sheep comprising of 6,163 hoggs
and 4,196 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday
27th March 2025
.

A Larger but very mixed show
of 6,163 Prime Hoggs
were forward to a full ringside of 17 purchasers ensuring all
classes were competitively bid for. Fed Continental hoggs 33-44kg sold at a
premium and proved to be way short of purchaser requirements, heavies continued
at recent rates of return. Many more small and export hoggs are required on a
weekly basis to satisfy and ever growing customer demand here at Longtown.

Topping the sale was 2
fantastic hoggs, expertly fed by Master Thomas Holmes Jnr who presented his
hoggs himself realising a fantastic £220. Well done young man.

Topping the pence per kilo
was some fantastic Beltex hoggs consigned by M/s NJ Macquisten, Airyolland,
Newton Stewart which realised 458ppk.
