Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 6,057 sheep
comprising of 2,506 lambs and 3,551 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale
at Longtown Mart on Thursday 31th July 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

Another
fine show of 2,506 lambs were forward being slightly firmer on the week. All
breeds and weights were included in the sale average of 356ppk 

Again,
more can be sold and are actively sought after on  a weekly basis to satisfy
demand.    

Overall average of 356.43p/kg (SQQ 356.78 p/kg)

CAST EWES AND RAMS

Cast ewes a stand on trade with all classes proving
very good to sell, maintaining recent record rates of return. Many more can be
sold to vendor advantage at Longtown. Keep them coming!

Heavy ewes were topped at £400 for a pair of Texels
from HM Livestock, Shethin.

A Blackface topped the Light ewes at £200 from Aitken,
Kerfield.

Swaledale Ewes proved very good to sell topping at
£152 for the biggest Swaledale ewe to grace the ring for some time.

Rams to £240 for a single Texel from Williamson,
Dykehead. Plenty of tups £200 + and keenly bid for.
