C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 8,773 sheep comprising of 5,127 prime lambs and 3,646 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 10th September 2026.
PRIME LAMBS
A much larger show of 5,127 prime lambs which includes a solid entry of 1,631 hillbred lambs and Mules. All classes proving easier to sell being, dearer on the week and over 30ppk increase on the same week last year. All roads lead to Longtown as the most consistent market in the country leads the way once again.
Top price per head of £204 for Suffolk lambs from Snab Farm, Waterbeck with top price per kilo of 435p for Beltex lambs shown by R & WD & SR Charlton, Whiteside, Haltwhistle.

A similar show of 3,646 of cast ewes and rams were forward to a far superior trade than seen anywhere else this week. Premium returns are only received at Longtown.
Heavy ewes topped at £300 for Texel ewes shown by Blue Park Farming.
Light ewes topped at £174 for Cheviot ewes from J Common & Son, Crossdykes, Lockerbie and for Lleyn ewes shown by S & R Irving, The Height, Caldbeck.
Rams topped at £270 for Bluefaced Leciesters from WH & DA Gass, Nunscleugh, Bewcastle.
