C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 4,365 sheep comprising of 1,232 prime lambs and 3,133 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 2nd July 2026.
PRIME LAMBS
A similar show of 1,232 lambs forward to a more subdued enquiry of purchasers, with trade being slightly easier again on the week. Weight still in good demand and well finished best export lambs proved a joy to sell. Commercial grass-fed lambs met the most resistance.
Well fed lambs continue to be wanted for the coming weeks, still being sold to vendor advantage.
Top price per head of £250 for a Suffolk shown by I & J Barbour, Beechgrove, Annan.
Top per kilo of 447p for Beltex lambs from CJ Roots, Kilnford Croft, Dumfries.
