C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 5,094 sheep comprising of 1,496 prime lambs, 1,582 hoggs and 2,016 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 18th June 2026.
PRIME LAMBS
An increased show of 1,496 Lambs forward to the same ring of competitive purchasers ensuring all classes of well finished lambs received prices comparable to recent high rates of return. Heavy lambs still commanding a premium being well short of purchaser demand.
Top price per head of £263 for Texel lambs shown by AJ Watret, Pendicle, Ruthwell.
Top per kilo of 512p for Charollais lambs from J & E Walby, East House, Newcastle.

A larger entry of 2,016 cast ewes and rams were forward
All classes of ewes sold to increased rates being way short of purchaser demand, being £10-£12 in front of other centres. Numbers of cast ewes and rams especially are keenly sought after on a weekly basis.
Texel ewes sold to a top of £340 and £335 from D & T Bradley Farmer, Wester Parkgate, Dumfries.
Light ewes selling to £185 for Lleyns from D & L Steen, Coxhill, Moffat.
Rams topped at £315 for a Texel from G Ritchie, Blackrigg Bungalow, Rockcliffe.
