C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 5,884 sheep comprising of 2,013 prime lambs and 3,871 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 30th July 2026.

PRIME LAMBS

A very mixed show of 2,013 Prime lambs was forward to the same ring of competitive purchasers. All classes of prime lambs saw a reduction on the week. Fed lambs were in short supply. Please note lean grass reared lambs are more suited and easier sold on the very buoyant store market on a Tuesday at Longtown. Please don’t hesitate to contact our auctioneers to market your stock to your advantage.

A similar show of 3,871 cast ewes and rams, all classes still looking well sold realising the same trade as last week’s very high rates of return. Keep the ewes coming, they’re better sold sooner rather than later for premium returns.

Texel ewes sold to a top of £355 for Texel ewes from AR Bell & Son, Kirkton, Hawick.

Light ewes selling to £190 for Lleyns shown by S & R Irving, The Height, Caldbeck.

Rams topped at £285 for Texels from M & D Agri, Whitehill Crest, Brampton.

A pleasing entry of cattle forward with more quality on offer. The sale peaked at £2,482 for a tremendous Limousin cow shown by RS Conley & Son, Barrasford Green, Hexham.
