Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward 2102 store lambs, feeding ewes and cast rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 2nd September 2025.

Breeding ewes top at £175 from J F Bowe & Sons, Foulsyke Farm for a pen of Texel cross three shear ewes with Mule ewes topping at £170 for a pen of four shear ewes from G & E Sisson & Son, Grainhead.

Topping the Gimmer trade was noted vendor JW & ES Woodmass, Howard House who sold Texel cross gimmers to £235, also matching the top price was two fantastic pure Suffolk gimmers from SGD Dawkins, Romanway realising £235.

Store lambs sharper on the week for a larger show of longer keep lambs as new faces appear at the ringside. Short keep lambs remain in strong demand with a shortage on offer. Top price of the day was a pen of Texel lambs from Culfargie Estates, Tarrylaw Farm topping at £143. In the Suffolk department chasing for top place were three tremendous Suffolk lambs from S Robson Farming, Little Ryle realising £141. Beltex lambs also top at £141 from KLRI Watson, Orchard Terrace.
