Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 4,968 Store Hoggs and Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 20th January 2026.

The first offering of 300 in-lamb ewes here at Longtown topped at £255 per head for a great pen of Cheviot Mule gimmers scanned in-lamb to the Berrichon from Mary Lewis, Glen Darroch Farming, closely followed by her second pen at £245. With many customers leaving empty handed more in-lamb ewes could be sold with ease at our next sale on Tuesday 3rd February.

The store sheep ring had 4,968 store hoggs and feeding ewes forward to a strong ring of buyers with several new purchasers in attendance. Topping at £143 For a pen of Texel hoggs from Messrs Baty, Broomhills with feeding ewes selling to £178 from D Creer, Cooilingel.
