Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Reports

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 3,226 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 4th March 2025.

Store Hoggs (3,101) – A larger show of hoggs were forward with a very mixed show on offer. Short keep hoggs seen to premium rates as purchasers travel from up and down the country to take advantage of the numbers placed in front of them.

Top price of the day goes to Bowhill Farming Ltd, Linhope for a tremendous South Country Cheviot ewe hogg realising £160

Feeding Ewes and Cast Rams (125) –  A much smaller show of feeding ewes on offer this week. Top price was a Suffolk tup making £190 from J G Murray & Son, Branxholm Braes.

376 In lamb sheep and dry hoggs forward.  
Topping the sale at £285 for a Texel cross gimmer from Highfield Farming Ltd, Knock.
A fantastic run of Texel cross and Mule ewes were on offer from Cowden Partners, Cowden Burn only for sale due to a change in farm policy, this run topped at £275 and averaged £258 for 114 sold.

Inlamb ewe hoggs topped at £215 for a pair of Suffolk cross hoggs from C Cowen, Itonfield.
