Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Reports

C & D Auction Marts held
their weekly sale of 1235 Breeding sheep, Store hoggs and Feeding sheep
at Longtown on Tuesday 15th April 2025.

Ewes and lambs go up a gear again
with buyers flooding around the ring side, ensuring every outfit was highly
contended for. Topping the ring today was a tremendous first cross Texel ewe
with a single Texel lamb at foot, realising £142 per life from Robert Tweddle,
Kirkandrews Moat. The majority of the sale consisted of Mule ewes, regularly
selling between £115 to £130 per life.

Store hoggs numbers (828). A end of
season show on offer today with a lot of cleaning up consignments forward.
However, strong feeding hoggs were still in strong demand and very easily sold;
topping the sale with 6 fantastic Texel cross hoggs from Tattersall Farming,
Bellbank realising £152.

demand with a very limited show of numbers on offer. Many more could have been
sold to vendors advantage. Top price was two Texel cross ewes making £192 from
M W Furlong & Co, Ridley Farm.
