Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Annual Prize Show and Sale of 456 Store Cattle on Saturday 4th October
2025.

An outstanding show of seriously well bred cattle, mainly 11-16m
of age was forward to a packed ring of purchasers ensuring all classes were in
serious demand. Credit to the vendors who put on a show of cattle that had to
be seen to be believed, second to none.

Judging was carried out by Miss Katrina Donaldson, Hazel House who
had a very difficult task in front of her due to the quality placed before her.

Topping the sale was a fine example of the breed, a very square,
shapely Limousin steer realising £2,580, consigned by M/s Rushton, Nirvana,
Carlisle this run of very well turned out cattle went onto average £2,180

Second top price of the day went three different ways. Firstly to
a fantastic Charolais steer consigned by M/s Telford, High Park Foot realising
£2,500.

Then the first placed Limousin Heifer and overall champion came to
the ring with plenty of interest and some firey bidding, this heifer also came
to £2,500 consigned by M/s Mitchinson, Gallowberry. This expertly exhibited run
of 39 shapely Limousin cattle went on to average an outstanding £2,079

Also reaching £2,500 was a jet black Limousin heifer consigned
by  M/s Gass, Nunscleugh.  This run of very well bred
predominantly yearling Limousin bred cattle went on to average £2,172

Top herd average of the day was an outstanding run of Charolais
bred cattle consigned by M/s Telford, High Park Foot topping at £2,500 and
levelling at £2,255 for 15 sold.

of Charolais cattle topping at £2,320 for a rangy Charolais steer, levelling at
£2,253 for 5 sold.
