Marts Ltd held their Annual Suckler Calf Sale together with the Morrisons and
Beef Shorthorn Society supported sale of Beef bred Shorthorn Store Cattle

BEEF SHORTHORNS

First through
the ring was the entry of Beef Shorthorn and cross bred Beef Shorthorn store
cattle which sold to a buoyant trade from start to finish. Topping this section
was a forward steer consigned by M/s ME & TD Tailford, Gallaw Hill Farm,
Hexham realising £2,180. Thanks to Morrisons and the Beef Shorthorn Society for
their continued support for this sale.

SUCKLED CALVES

The pre-sale
show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co and ably judged by Mr George Rome, Nivenhill,
Rigg, Dumfriesshire. After much deliberation the championship was awarded to the
finest British Blue x heifer that has ever been brought forward to this sale, being
shown by M/s Reed & Hill, Lingey Field, Hexham.

Lingey Field

all four corners of the United Kingdom. She came into the ring very sure of
herself and after some frantic bidding the hammer dropped at a new centre
record for suckled calves at Longtown, realising £4,400. The 7 month old heifer
was sold to renowned store cattle producers and herdsmasters Willie and Ryan
Walton, Penpeugh, Hexham to join their suckler herd.
