Longtown Suckler Sale Sat 03 Oct 26

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Prize Show and Sale of 458 Store Cattle on Saturday 3rd October 2026.

A fantastic entry of first draw cattle consigned from herd masters from across the Scottish Borders and the Northern Counties. Purchasers flocked to Longtown to purchase these high end merchandise ensuing all classes of cattle proved to be in high demand.

The sale was kindly sponsored by Capontree Vets and the very unenviable task of judging today was left in the capable hands of Mr James Crichton, Loughrigg, Egremont, who after much deliberation awarded his deserved champion in the first prize Charolais heifer and best Charolais in show consigned by annual vendors M/s WG & HM Kyle, Spoutbank, Brampton. This outstanding heifer went onto realise £2,300.

Topping the sale was a growthy Limousin cross steer consigned by M/s S & SL Phillips, Netherhill, that went onto realise £2,380.

All consignors are commended for the quality of breeding and presentation of their cattle today. Very well done.

The board of directors and Auctioneers thank all the office staff and office staff for their tireless work throughout this very busy week; your efforts are very much appreciated.

Many more cattle of all classes can be sold at this venue to benefit vendors across the Northern Counties and the Scottish Borders. For further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact our auctioneers who will be pleased to take your calls.
