Dumfries Primestock Report

C & D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of primestock on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 in Dumfries.

Cattle numbers were short of requirements due to the excellent silage weather.

OTM cattle easily maintained recent values.

Per head – Charolais Bull - £1210 Marwhirn. Limousin - £1197 Denbieyett, £1036, £997.50 Isle of Dalton. Holstein - £1078 Longbridgemuir. £847.80 Trailflat, £808 Newhouse. Shorthorn - £1045.80 Newlands. Hereford - £1045.50 Gall. British Blue - £1003.20 Isle of Dalton. Angus - £952 Denbieyett.

Per kilo – Limousin – 190p Denbieyett, 140p, 133p Isle of Dalton.Angus – 164 Shawhill, 140p Denbieyett, 125p Millantae. Holstein – 140p Longbridgemuir, 110p, 108p Trailflat. British Blue - 132p Isle of Dalton. Hereford – 123p Gall. Shorthorn – 123p Penlaw.

C & D Auctions Marts Ltd had forward 354 spring lambs, prime hoggs and cast ewes and rams.

Prime lambs comprised of mainly heavier weights selling to £100 for Texels from Isle of Dalton and Broomhillbank and 250p/kg Broomhillbank.

Prime hoggs mixed offering forward with Texel hoggs to £82 Eastside with Blackface to 192p/kg Auchenbrack

Cast ewes Sharper on the week, more could have been easily sold.
