Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 7 prime cattle, 5 OTM cattle, 4,394 prime lambs and 3,322 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 26th November 2015.
A very small show of prime cattle met a very dear trade and many more could have easily been sold. The sale topped at 233.5p for a smart Limousin heifer sold by J. & J. & D. Taylor, Englishtown, then again at 219.5p also from Englishtown, both bought by Mr S. Ramsay.

A larger show of 4,394 prime lambs were forward to the usual ringside of who were extremely keen for sheep. Best quality export weight sheep were very easily sold and short of requirements, with over 50 kilo lambs regularly £76 to £86. More best quality lambs are required to fill ever increasing demand at Longtown. Lightweight lambs dearer and more could have been sold to advantage. Top price of 212.8p per kilo and £100 per head for Texels from Kilnford Croft. Overall average of 158.8p (SQQ 162.8p).
