Cows: Peter Lee’s load of cows average 125.5p.

The increased number of cows proved totally inadequate for the number of buyers at ringside. Good meated cows were an excellent trade throughout, with small worked cows pounds dearer on the week. Peter Lee & family sold a good run of commercial continental x cows which sold to 137p for a Simmental and Limousins to 128p. Angus cows sold to 114p from the potato barer of Newtown. Herefords sold to 109p also from Newtown. The top price per head was £1130.25 for a continental x from Morley Hill, others to £864 from Whitfield.
Farmers: Trade is excellent for all types of cows and anyone looking to sell, please contact Craig for an on-farm visit or advise in marketing your cows to best advantage.

Another fine show of 2,820 prime lambs were forward to the usual ring of buyers who were keen for sheep, especially if good quality and more so with a bit of weight. Quality export lambs keenly sought after and many more could be sold. Light weight lambs 32-36kg were well bid for if best quality, but more Mule and Blackface lambs were forward and were less money. However, the sale average 191ppk, which is some 42p above last year’s average for this day. Sale topped at 238p for Texels from Hallbankgate and £104 for Texels from Carran, Thurso.
