The company held its weekly sale of primestock where an entry of 28 cattle, comprising of 19 cows, 4 cull bulls and 5 prime heifers forward.

OTM’s: Andrew tops at 169p

Buyers were again strong at ringside with new faces present looking for all types and more could be easily sold. Andrew Forster topped the section with a young dairy bred British Blue at 169p, with others to 115 for Simmental x from the same home. Native breeds sold to 111p from Gillalees. More cows could easily have been sold. A great turnout of cast bulls met spirited bidding with Janice Pattie’s Shorthorn topping at £987.45.

Prime cattle: Billy Grieve tops section

A wonderful entry of quality butcher’s heifers sold extremely well to average 202.4p. Billy topped the sale with a lovely Blue heifer at 211p. Limousin’s from Stuart and Tucker realised 203p.

A larger show of 3,763 lambs were forward to the usual ring of buyers, with trade again steadier in line with the national trend as more numbers come forward throughout the country.
