Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 4,020 sheep comprising of 1,405 spring lambs and 2,615 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 1st July 2021.
A similar show of 1,405 new season spring lambs. All classes of prime lambs sold to a fast trade, showing an increase of over 25ppk on the week, ensuring all vendors left highly delighted with their days trading at Longtown. More lambs are required for next weeks sale to satisfy a growing demand here at Longtown.
Top per head of £159 for Texels from C Wilson, Belzies, Lochmaben.
Top price per kilo of 350p for Texel lambs from R Johnston, Kimmeter Green, Annan.

A larger show of 2,615 ewes were forward, still short of purchaser requirements. A fantastic trade throughout the sale with all classes being markedly dearer on the week.
Heavy ewes topped at £200 for Texels shown by T Hill & R Wright, Mill Farm Doncaster and from PC & EJ Longdin, Wellingley Grange, Doncaster.
Hill ewes topped at £119 for Cheviots from WN Douglas, Catslackburn, Yarrow. Swaledale ewes topped at a staggering £110 for a pen of 11 consigned by TW & TB Edgar, Whitton, Morebattle.
Mule ewes topped at £127 for a penful of 18 hefty ladies consigned by JA Wallace & Sons, High Glen Triplock, Wigtownshire.
Rams to £180 for a Texel from TH & MI Huddleston & Son, The Green, Longtown.
