Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 6,688 sheep comprising of 1,399 Spring Lambs, 2,547 hoggs and 2,742 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 5th June 2025.
PRIME LAMBS
A much larger show of spring lambs saw trade less on the week because of outlets killing ewes and hoggs for the festival. All purchasers set to return full of orders this week.
Top price per head was £178 for a pair of Texels from T.C. Jackson, Langdyke Cottage.
Top price per kilo was 432p for a single Texel from D.W. Musgrave, Sowerby Wood

All classes of ewes met a flying trade, more required for next Thursday as trade is set to remain firm.
Heavy ewes topped at £306 for Texels ewes from three vendors - C.J. Roots, Kilnford Croft, Messrs Smith, Beckfoot and A. & C. Watson of Rowan Garth.
Lightweight ewes topped at £175 for a pen of Cheviots from D. Coghill, Tofts of Tain.
