Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 4,824 sheep comprising of 1,964 lambs and 2,860 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 24th July 2025.
PRIME LAMBS
A larger show of prime lambs forward to a very strong ring side of buyers, looking for all classes of prime lambs. A slight decrease on last weeks premium rates, very much in line with other centres on the week.
Again more can be sold and are actively sought after on a weekly basis to satisfy demand.
Overall average of 352.8p/kg (SQQ 353p/kg)

CAST EWES AND RAMS
A slightly larger show of cast ewes and rams forward this week with a lot more plainer ewes on offer meeting a slight resistance to previous weeks. Well fleshed ewes and fat ewes still holding up in strong demand. Numbers wanted to meet a very competitive ring of 15 active purchasers ringside at Longtown.
Topping the day was a fantastic Texel ewe from J Watson & Co, Bowsden Moor realising £400.
