Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward a good entry of 300 store cattle and suckler calves, plus 30 unentered cattle at their show & sale on Tuesday 13th May, 2014.

Best quality sold well with the rest a shade harder to cash due to the falling prime prices.

The judging was carried out by Mr David Dickinson who awarded The Championship to a Limousin steer shown by T.V. Blair & Son, Dodgsonstown, which later realised £1,000 purchased by the judge.

The reserve went to Messrs A. & A. Ewing, Dumbretton for a Limousin heifer selling to £940, also bought by Messrs Dickinson.

The top price of the day was £1,110 twice for Limousin Heifers, firstly from Messrs N. Calvert & Son, Greensburn, then from S. Phillips, Netherhill.  Angus Bullocks sold to £1,090 from Messrs J.A. & E. Dinwoodie, Archerbeck.
