Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward a catalogue entry of 207 Store Cattle & 74 Breeding Cattle at their annual sale on Tuesday 7th October 2014.

A good entry of store cattle saw trade remain the same as recent weeks and the sale topped at £1,070 for a Simmental bull from P. & C.M. Goldsbrough, Oakrigg Farm.  British Blue bullocks sold to £1,050 (x5) from J. Irving & Son, The Stubb, then again at £1,050 from R. Johnston, Kimmeter Green.

A good entry of 74 breeding cattle, including 59 bulling heifers. Bullers sold well with plenty of keen bidders. The sale topped at £1,200 for Limousin and British Blue from Peter Robson, Taylorburn. Messrs Robsons run of 30 bullers averaged £1,032.33. Angus cow with calf also sold to £1,210 from P.A.D. Boyle & Sons, Mallsgate Hall.
