Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their annual catalogue sale of 373 Spring born suckler calves at Longtown on Saturday 24th October 2015. 

A busy ringside of buyers ensured averages were only £2 down on last year's outstanding trade and many more could have been sold. The show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co., Accountants with the judging ably carried out by Mr James Whiteford, Tercrosset Farm. He awarded the Jacob Thomlinson Challenge Trophy; presented by Miss Hazel Thomlinson, to a 7 month old Limousin heifer from Alex A Roskell & Partners, Laverhay, which later realised £1100 and bought by the judge. The reserve champion went to a Charolais bullock from Greystoke Castle Farms, selling to £1050.
