Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of 84 store cattle on Tuesday 14th March 2017. A shortage of stronger cattle, with younger grazing very dear and plenty more could have been sold to advantage. The sale topped at £1,160 and £1,100 for Angus bullocks from Fiona Gibson, Southwoodhead with Charolais heifers to £1,110 (x2) from the same home. Charolais bullocks to £1,090 from T L Hogg & Son, Ryehills and Limousins to £1,020 from the same home.

Border Bull Sale

A nice entry of 16 commercial beef breeding bulls were forward at the Border Bull sale on Tuesday 14th March 2017. Buyers were selective although quality lots sold well. Top price of 2,100gns for a Limousin from J E Henderson & Son, Burn Tongues, Hexham, with other Limousin’s to 2,000gns from Normande Limousins, Cowford, Lanark. Simmental bulls sold to 2,000gns from Messrs Trafford, Springfield Farm, Cockermouth.
