Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their catalogue entry of 377 store cattle and suckler calves on Tuesday 9th May 2017, which met a packed ringside of buyers. An excellent show of quality cattle sold to a superb trade with the sale average up £164.11 on the same sale last year.

The sale topped at £1,330 for the first prize Charolais bullock sold by FMI Gibson, Southwoodhead. Limousin bullocks sold to £1,210 from TV & M Storey, Tinnishall. The heifer section topped at £1,255 for a Limousin from A & A Ewing, Dumbretton closely followed by British Blue's at £1,250 from J Retson & Son, Gardrum.

The pre-sale show was judged by Mr J Crichton, Loughrigg, who awarded the Champion rosette to I R Armstrong, Shankfieldhead for an outstanding 11-month-old Limousin heifer which later sold to £1,220.
