Longtown Hill Bred Suckler Calf Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Annual Hill Bred Suckler Calf Sale together with Store Cattle on Saturday 27th October 2018. Trade was very strong for well grown and well presented cattle with averages dearer on the year.

The presale show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co and judging was carried out by Mr A. Graham, The Wreay, Wigton who awarded the championship to a lovely red Limousin steer calf shown by Wanwood Partners, Wanwood Hill, which later realised £1,020 and purchased by Messrs D.A. Harrison, Hill House, Wigton. The reserve champion went to Messrs Roskell, Laverhay, which went to sell for £920 again to Messrs Harrison. Top price of the day was £1,220 for a Charolais Bull from Mr David Story, Greenburn.
