Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited held their catalogue sale of 283 store cattle on Tuesday 19th January 2021.  

A fantastic entry of some of the finest bred cattle in the country sold to blistering rates with all vendors highly delighted with their days trading.

Topping todays trading was a fantastic black Limousin heifer realising £1,420 shown by regular consigner R & MG Elliott & Sons, Hallburn Croft, Longtown, who’s run of 7 very well bred cattle averaged £1182. Another run of outstanding cattle was forward by noted vendors WH & DA Gass, Nunscleugh, Bewcastle which topped at £1,400 for a pen of four smart black heifers.

British Blue cross heifers topped at £1350 for a black heifer with bags of potential, consigned by returning vendors Messrs Reed, Knarr Farm, Slaggyford, who’s run of 4 yearling cattle averaged £1,185.

Charolais heifers topped at £1340 for a weighty lady consigned by again, regular consigners RI & VA Telford, High Parkfoot, Roadhead.

Limousin bullocks from Nunscleugh topped the sale at £1,360 for a pen of three shapely sorts with this phenomenal run of 17 Limousin bred cattle went on to average a staggering £1269.

Charolais steers selling to £1,315 consigned from M/s RI & VA Telford, High Park Foot, whos run of 12 predominantly Charolais bred cattle averaged £1197.

Bulls to £1,120 and 1,100 for Limousins from DJ Garthwaite & Son, Wyseby Hill Cottage, Kirtlebridge.

All vendors are commended for the show of expertly presented cattle forward to a very competitive ring of purchasers, many more can be sold to vendor advantage with 33% of the total sale sold to £1100+ and a staggering 34 lots selling to £1200 or more.
