Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their special January sale of 314 store cattle on Tuesday 18th January 2022.

Another outstanding show of very well bred cattle forward to a full ringside of 34 purchasers ensuring all classes of cattle were very well bid for. Topping the sale was a shapely black Limousin heifer realising £1,490 shown by G Mitchinson & Son, Gallowberry, Kirkcambeck, whilst the steers topped at £1,470 for another Limousin consigned from TN & F Cowan & Son, The Ash, Roadhead.

Younger cattle seemed the trade of the day being in serious demand with many 8-10m old well bred cattle realising £1150-£1250. Topping this section at £1310 for a pair of well made Limousin steers consigned by Wanwood Partners, Wanwood Hill, Alston, Cumbria, who’s tremendous run of 10 cattle averaged £1,206.   

Many more store cattle can be sold to vendor advantage here at Longtown. Next sale is Tuesday 1st February, with a Special February catalogued sale on Tuesday 15th February.
