Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their special February sale of 295 store cattle on Tuesday 15th February 2022.

A fantastic offering of store cattle were put before a busy ringside of buyers, all keen to purchase, resulting in a marvellous trade throughout. Many more quality lots could be sold to vendors advantage here at Longtown.

The sale topped at £1,430 for a smart heifer shown by TV & M Storey, Tinnishall, Canonbie, with bullocks selling to a top of £1,410 for an outstanding 11 month old Limousin consigned by WH & DA Gass, Nunscleugh, Bewcastle, who’s run of 39, 10-11 month old very well bred cattle went on to level at £1,224.   

Again, the trade of the day were the youngest section of cattle 10 months and under with many runs of cattle averaging north of £1,200. A fantastic run of expertly shown Limousin cross cattle consigned by Phillip and Dan Walton, Wanwood Partners, Alston, Cumbria, topped at £1,410 for a 10 month old stylish black lady and averaging an astonishing £1,226 for 10 sold. Aberdeen Angus cattle also sold to a bustling trade topping at £1,195 for a pen of 10 month old, well made steers consigned by JE & BL Goddard, Frankstown, Longtown.

Charolais cattle were also in demand as a run of 23 mainly Charolais cattle consigned by RI & VA Telford, High Parkfoot, Roadhead topped at £1,400 and levelled at a staggering £1,199.

Next sale is Tuesday 1^st March, with the Special March Sale & Kirkcambeck Sale being held on Saturday 19^th March. All classes of cattle big and small are actively sought after and required to fulfil an unprecedented demand from a packed ringside of purchasers.
