Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their catalogued sale of 422 store cattle on Tuesday 10th May 2022.

Another fantastic show of both forward cattle and younger grazing types were presented to a full ring of distant and local purchasers ensuring returns surpassed vendors expectation as they left very pleased with their days trading at Longtown.

The forward cattle carrying flesh were very good to sell whilst the smaller grazing types met a bit of resistance.  

The sale topped at £1,610 for a fantastic Limousin bullock expertly shown by F Gibson, Southwoodhead, Canonbie, who sold others at £1,580.

Forward Friesian steers were in big demand topping at £1280 consigned by CT & J Wigham & Sons, Hethermill, Kirklinton.   

Heifers sold to £1,470 for an outstanding black Limousin lady from DA & MA Teasdale, Grindon Hill, Haydon Bridge.

A fantastic run of Aberdeen angus yearling heifers were forward consigned by JE & BL Goddard, Frankstown, and sold beyond expectations topping at £1,140 for a pair of super heifers with a pen of 4 realising £1,120.

British Blue and Limousin bulls sold to a mighty trade with entries being short of requirements, topping at £1,320 on two occasions consigned by regular vendors Reed & Hill, Lingey Field, Hexham.

Many more cattle could be sold to vendors advantage on a fortnightly basis here at Longtown and entries are keenly sought after for the next sale on the 24^th May 2022.
