Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their catalogue sale of 365 store cattle on Tuesday 16th August 2022. A marvellous entry of cattle were forward to a busy ringside of purchasers, all keen to purchase, therefore ensuring all classes met a flying trade throughout.

The sale topped at £1,720 for an outstanding blue roan heifer being 10 months old consigned by Messrs Reed & Hill, Lingey Field, Hexham, Northumberland. This heifer took the eye of several high-end purchasers ensuring the bonny heifer’s true potential was achieved. This run of 12 well bred cattle achieved an average price per head of £1,198.

Limousin bullocks sold to £1,360 for another fantastic shapley beast consigned by G Mitchinson & Son, High Greenhill, Brampton.

Bulls sold to £1,310 for Limousins from DJ Garthwaite & Son, Wyseby Hill Cottage, Kirtlebridge, whose run of 6 bulls averaged £1,254.
