Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Annual Suckler Calf Sale together with Store Cattle on Saturday 22nd October 2022.

A smart entry of cattle was presented forward to a very busy ring of potential purchasers ensuring a very buoyant trade throughout.

The championship was awarded to a Limousin x bullock shown by Wanwood Partners

The pre-sale show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co and ably judged by Mr Geoff Bowe, Bothel Park Farm, Wigton. After much deliberation the championship was awarded to a Limousin x bullock shown by Wanwood Partners, Wanwood Hill, Alston which later sold for £1,300.

The champion sold for £1,300

Reserve champion was received by AA Roskell & Partners, Laverhay, Moffat for their first prize British Blue x heifer, which sold for £1,120.

Incorporated in today’s sale was the full dispersal of the Greenburn Herd. Potential purchasers travelled from all corners of the United Kingdom to try and purchase a very good run of commercial cows, which is testament to the quality of cattle on offer. The directors, auctioneers and all the staff at Longtown would like to thank David and his family for their continued support over the years and wish them well for the future.

Topping this section of the sale was a stylish British blue cow PD’d incalf to the Charolais bull realising £1,720.
