Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their catalogued sale of 450 store cattle on Tuesday 14th  February 2023 sold to a jam packed ring of purchasers ensuring all classes of cattle surpassed vendors expectations as they left highly delighted with their days trading.

Purchasers commented on the quality of cattle present, being expertly shown in full bloom by some of the finest herd masters across cumbria, Northumberland and the Scottish borders.

Toping the sale was an outstanding black limousin Bull consigned by regular vendors Michael and William Hill from lingey field, Hexham. This bull went onto realise £1790. The same father and son team also topped the heifer section with another fine example of the breed going on to sell for £1780. This run of 50 predominantly yearling cattle achieved a fantastic average of £1375.  

M/s Storey, Tinnishall had a very well bred run of cattle through todays sale topping the steer section with a thick, shapley limousin steer to realise £1700. Heifers from the same home topped at £1680 for a very stylish 13 month old limousine. This run of finely bred 12-16 month old cattle went onto average a staggering £1581

As always M/s gass, nunscleugh had another fantastic run of well bred cattle forward topping out at £1620 for a very correct limousin heifer realising £1620 levelling at £1360 for their 9-11 month old limousin cattle

Charolais cattle proved a joy to sell as regular consignors M/s Telford, High Parkfoot topped at £1660 for an exceptional 11 month old steer with their run of 21 averaging a astounding £1419
