Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 1,188 store cattle at the Annual Kirkcambeck sale on Saturday 14th October 2023.

An unbelievable entry of traditional native bred cattle, seeing a big increase on the year and presented to a huge ringside of potential purchasers ensuring a serious trade throughout with vendors leaving delighted with their days trading. Cattle presented for sale in forward condition sold very well as did Blue Grey and Belted Galloway steers. Many more can be sold at this sale to vendor advantage.

Topping the sale at £1,740 was a phenomenal Belted Galloway bullock from Messrs TL Hogg, Ryehills, Canonbie.

Heifers topped at £1,400 for an Angus x from Messrs N Calvert & Son, Greensburn, West Hall.
Belted Galloway bulls to £1,250 from C & N Davidson, Halmyre, Haugh of Urr.

Beef Shorthorns topped at £1,500 from Gallaw Hill

The Beef Shorthorn cattle topped at £1,500 for a pen of 4 bullocks consigned by ME & TD Tailford, Gallaw Hill, Hexham with heifers selling to £1,300 from J.J. Butler, Kirndean, Newcastleton.

Whitslade Shield presented to E Taylor, Wallish Walls by David Anderson

The Whitslade Shield for best heifers on show was present to E. Taylor & Sons, Wallish Walls, Consett for the second year running for a pair of well bred Belted Galloways selling to £1,280.
