Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 2,506 store hoggs, feeding ewes and in lambers at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 3rd February 2015.
Another good entry met a fast trade with numbers far short of requirements.
Top £81 for Beltex from Felton, £80 Riddings Hill; Suffolk £78 Riddings Hill, £72.50 Carslae; Charollais £77.50, £75 Carslae, £73 Dyke; Texel £76 Flatt, £75 Ballagan, £73.50 Cocklakes House; Greyface £68.50, £66 Wester Dawyck, £65 Flatt and High Parknook; North Country Cheviot £65.50 Dinley, £62 Coolingel; Blackface £64 Brandleys and Foulshield, £60 Midlock; Zwartbles £60 Coolingel; Hill Cheviot £58 Falnash; Swaledale £56 Ballaglonney.
Feeding ewes to £94 Felton, hill types £65 Cocklakes House, cast rams £43 Coolingel.
In-lamb ewes were forward in small numbers with trade again very good. Top £104 for correct ewes from Carleon, who also sold ewe hoggs at £85.
