Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts Limited had forward 5,951 store lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 8th September, 2015.

It was the first sale of 1,355 Hill Cheviot and 1,003 Blackface lambs. Buyers were more cautious than usual for a good show of Cheviots, unfortunately trade was down £5.81 on the year. Top of £54 for Northies from East Murton and £52 Effgill, with Hill Cheviots to £51 Hindhope.

Blackfaces on the other hand would be £3.35 down on the year. Top of £46.50 Allensgreen, £43 Embley, £41 Tarn House and Gobbergrennan.

All classes of other lambs met a sharp trade although slightly cheaper with distant buyers from North Wales, Shropshire and Lancashire to the fore. Top price of £59 for Texels from Stonehall, £56.50 Rinnion Hills, Chapel House and Lyne Farm; Suffolk £57.50 Tarrasfoot, £56.50 Routin Lynn; Greyface £57 Baggarah, £52 Bayldon, £51.50 Lamperts Cottage; Beltex £57 Sorbie, £55 The Flatt; Charollais £55.50 Tarrasfoot, £55 The Flatt; Lleyn £55, £54.50 Low Tipalt; Cheviot Mule £54.50 Embley, £52.50 Priesthaugh, £52 The Flatt; Easycare £45 Milton of Farr; Kendal Rough £30 The Park.
