Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 5,557 store lambs & feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 17th November, 2015.

A larger show and many distant buyers present, all classes met the dearest trade of the season when many more could have easily been sold to vendors advantage.

Top £72, £71 for Texels from Bateyshield; Suffolk £66.50 Sunnycroft, £64.50 Nether Barr, £62 Bateyshield; Greyface £64.50 Thomas Telford, £63.50 West Farm; Cheviot Mule £60 Upper Hindhope; Lleyn £56 Mallsgate Hall; Romney £52.50 Rammerscales; Swaledale £46.50 Nether Barr.

Heavy ewes to £74 Upper Hindhope, hill types to £56 Bombie.

Hill Cheviots (1,405) met the dearest trade of the year, up £5 on the week, with numbers short of requirements. Top of £58 Hopsrigg, £57 Potholm, £56.50 Bloch. Hill Northies to £58 East Murton.

Blackfaces (1,546) also dearer on the week. Top of £55 Ramshope, £54 Horseholme and West Farm, £53.50 Kildaloig.
