Longtown Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 1564 head of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at Longtown on Tuesday 24th May 2016.

It was the Second Prize Show and Sale of hoggs, again many Eden Valley vendors showing, which attracted a full ring of prospective buyers with trade again strong for all classes. Top of £80 for the Champion pen from Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree, Penrith, others to £78 Little Blencowe and £76 Briggle, Seat Hill and Eskbank. Texels to £82 from the Champions from Messrs Watson, Four-o-Boot, Carlisle, others to £80 Loaningfoot. Texel with twins to £56 from Four-o-Boot and Loaningfoot and £55 Low Closegill. Suffolk crosses to £77 from Upper Hunderlee and £76 Four-o-Boot, £71 Wallend. Hoggs with twins to £58 Four-o-Boot and £57 Upper Hunderlee. Charollais to £74 Four-o-Boot and £73 Loaningfoot.
