Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 254 store hoggs and feeding ewes together with 1,892 ewes and lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 22nd May 2018.

A larger show of store hoggs, all classes again a very strong trade. Top of £116 for Texels from Clints Farming, Crookston. Greyface to £92 Gibblaston and Lynecrook. Cheviot Mules to £66 Ardnacross. Blackface to £64 Eastfield of Wiston. Lleyns to £52 Heron Associates. Easycare to £59 Croys Lodge. Shetland to £47 Snowhill.

Feeding ewes to £76 Balure and cast rams to £90 Eastfield of Wiston.

Breeding Sheep

The largest entry of the season so far, was forward to again an increased ring of buyers all eager for sheep as the sun shines, with demand especially strong for ewes with big lambs. Leading the sale was a tremendous entry of Texel and Texel x ewes with lambs from Messrs Beard, Dormansteads, who sold 41 lives to a top of £150 a life for a ewe with a single tup lamb at foot, with others at £115, £112 and £110, to an overall average of £95.83.

Also include in todays sale was the 2^nd show and sale of hoggs with lambs at foot. A great show of sheep was forward and with all quality outfits selling to a premium.
