Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 817 ewes and lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 5th June 2018. Following a grand spell of good weather, the same usual ring of buyers plus many extra new faces were keen to purchase ewes and lambs. Many customers left empty handed and many more could have been sold to vendors advantage. Sale topped at £92 per life for Texel hoggs with single lambs from Low Stanley, who’s consignment of 138 lives sold to average £75.59. Also included in the sale was a consignment of 85 Mule shearlings to three shears from Messrs Browell, Quarry House which sold to a top of £86 (x2) to average £85.29.

Store hoggs sold to £77 for Texels from T & M Liddon, Tundergarth House and £72 and £70 from G Howatson, Gillenbie.
