Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 4,438 store lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 14th August 2018. The sale included a prize show & sale of Texel/Beltex and Suffolk x lambs which was expertly judged by Andrew Hutchinson from Yorkshire.

There was a quality show on offer and with grass now growing fast a lot more buyers from far and near were present. Trade was very strong all day with prices £2-£5 dearer on the week, with many more lambs could have been easily sold to vendor advantage.

Top of the day was £86 for Texels from Felton Demesne, others to £82.50 Rinnion Hills & £81 Lingey Field; Suffolks to £79 Ragithwaite, £78 Tarrasfoot, £71 Borthwick Brae; Charollais to £81 Butterdale; Cheviot Mules to £65 Sorbietrees; Greyfaces to £65 Beacon Rigg, £63 Townfoot; Tup lambs to £77 Satchells and Ragithwaite.

Feeding ewes to £79 Blakehopeburnhaugh, £77 Newburn.
