Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward an entry of 5,002 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 4th December 2018.

There was a quality show forward and with another large company of buyer’s present trade was fierce from the start with the highest rates of the season so far, many pens sold between £75 and £78, to a top of £90 for Beltex from Moss Side, others to £84 Todridge. The dispersal sale on behalf of Messrs Carr, Airyolland, Port William were turned out in full bloom and sold to a large ringside of both local and distant buyers with the sale topping at £200 for a single gimmer sold on behalf of Crohn’s & Colitis UK to great supporter of the mart Mr James Gittins, Wales. Cheviot Mule gimmers selling at £92, North Country Cheviot gimmers £90, North Country 1 crop ewes £70 and North Country 1-4 crop ewes £74 (x2), £71 and £67, with North Country Cheviot ewe lambs selling to £82.
