Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 2,381 store hoggs, cast ewes and rams at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 9th February 2021.

Another good entry of hoggs attracted many buyers, trade can only be described as outstanding with all classes meeting an exceptional trade.

BREEDING SHEEP

A great show of 1,000 breeding sheep was forward to a large ringside of buyers, who were keen for quality stock. The highlight of the sale was the consignment of Texel x ewes from Stephen Graham & family, Miller Hill who topped the sale at £230 for 3 black Texel x ewes, followed for a pen full of 2-4 crop ¾ Texel ewes at £220. The consignment from Miller Hill averaged £191.95 which included broken mouth ewes.

W. Linton showed 300 Continental, Mule, Romney and Cheviot ewes, scanned full of lambs, to average £139.35 up £30 on last years bonanza.
