Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 5,612 store lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 17th August 2021.

Incorporated into the weekly sale was the Annual Prize Show and Sale of Mule lambs. A great show of top-quality lambs were on offer, which is a testament to each vendor who turned out lambs to show. The show was very ably judged by Norman Douglas, Catslackburn, whose awards were as follows;

North of England Mules

1st - TH Grant, Bayldon £80.50

2nd - PE Staley, Broadmea £81.50

3rd - BW & GE Tailford, Beacon Rigg £76.50

Scotch Mules

1st – Haliburton Farms £84.50

2nd - RW & SD Flintoft, Sourhope £84.50

The Ian Rutter Memorial Trophy for the champion pen of Alston Moor Mule lambs was awarded to PE Staley, Broadmea.

Out with the show, another large entry of store lambs attracted a large company of local and distant buyers. A lesser show of quality was on offer, although last week’s high rates of return were easily maintained.
