Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 4,240 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at Longtown at their weekly sale on Tuesday 11th January 2022.

A nice quality show of store hoggs attracted many distant buyers, also locals, trade dearer for all classes, many more could easily been sold.

Feeding ewes (202) considerably dearer on the week, up £20. Top £180 for Texels from Halfway House, others to £139 & £133 Backburn, £130 Low Craglemine & Hamburn Hall; Suffolks to £124 Halfway House; Greyfaces to £121 & £117 Backburn; Romneys to £100 Holm Farm. Hill ewes to £100 for Blackfaces from Ramshope; Cheviots to £84 Meikle Whitriggs.
