Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 7,583 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 11th October 2022.

A larger poorer quality show, strong well forward lambs met a similar trade, with all others easier on the week.

Top £104 & £93 for Charollais from Howberry; Texels to £100 Crow Hall, £94 Tarrasfoot, £92 Ellerslea; Beltex to £96, £93 High Hill, £93 High Aketon, £92 Ellerslea; Dutch Texels to £90 Greenside; Suffolks to £91 East Foreshield; Half-Breds to £79 Pilmuir; Cheviot Mules to £90 Upper Chatto, £86 Effgill; Greyfaces to £95 High Green Manor, £87 Hightown, £85 The Mains; Blackfaces to £90 Snar, £80 Prospect House, £78, £77 Balmurrie; Lleyns to £60 Beachmeanoch; Kendal Roughs to £67 Church View; Easycares to £64 Muircleugh; Zwartbles to £60 Cadgillhead.

Cast ewes (597) in demand. Top £107 for Texels from Crow Hall, £101 Ashton; Greyfaces to £97, £88 Dunglass, who also sold Cheviot Mules at £87. Hill ewes to £80 for Cheviots from Raeburnfoot; Blackfaces to £55 Achnacarron, £50 Craig Farm.

Another good show of 1,879 Cheviots met a very similar trade. Top £81 for Hill Northies from Effgill, others to £80 Islestone, £78 Raeburnfoot. Hill Cheviots to £78 Priesthaugh & Blackhall, £77 (x2) Lymiecleugh.
