Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 7,224 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 25th October 2022. A poorer quality show forward, best lambs dearer as were Cheviots, all others a similar trade to last week.

Feeding ewes (714) a similar trade. Top £134 for Texels from Felton Demense, £132 Halfway House; Suffolks to £98 Felton Demense; Cheviot Mules to £104 Felton Demense; Greyfaces to £87 High Croach; Kerry Hills to £70 Newbiggin Bush. Hill ewes to £88 for Cheviots from Hawthornbank, £84 Boreland; Blackfaces to £58 Raeshaw & Gibbs Hill & Low Old Shield; Swaledales to £47 Hesley Well. Cast rams to £117 for a Cheviot from Ridley Farm, £104 for a Texel from Dale House and Kerry Hills to £100 Newbiggin Bush.

A mixed show of breeding sheep seen quality fit to go straight to the tup meeting spirited bidding, with all others just realising feeding rate. Selling to a top of £320 for a Texel three shear ram, with Texel ewes to £160 and Texel ewe lambs to £145.
