Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 7,304 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 1st November 2022.

A similar entry attracted a lot more distant buyers, trade on the whole would be firmer.

Feeding ewes (739) very similar. Top £102 for Texels from Dunarroch, Thornhill; Cheviot Mules to £101 Sweetbit; Suffolks to £89 Sweetbit; Greyfaces to £89 The Hott; Dorsets to £75 Dunarroch. Hill ewes sold to £81 for Cheviots from Hill Farm, £77 Sweetbit, £75 North Churchlands; Blackfaces to £79 Sewingsheilds, £70 Glenreasdale Cottage. Cast rams sold to £84 for a Blackface from Hill farm.

At the weekly sale of breeding sheep & rams, there was an entry of 419. All classes were in demand. Top £310 & £210 & £200 (x2) for Texel shearling rams from West Farm; others to £150 The Close, who also Millennium Blues at £150. Gimmers to £110 for a Beltex from Windy Hill, who sold Beltex ewes to £112. Ewe lambs to £71 for Hill Cheviots for Crawford Hall
